Welcome to Friends of DalesBus

DALESBUS is a unique network of weekend and Bank Holiday integrated bus services for walkers, visitors and local people which operates from West and North Yorkshire into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape. Services whilst provided by local professional bus operators are managed, marketed and part financed by the Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company, an entirely not-for-profit volunteer run organisation owned by the charity, The Yorkshire Dales Society known as Friends of the Dales.

Friends of DalesBus who are also known as the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users Group was established in 1996. We were key partners in setting up the Dales & Bowland CIC in 2007.

We are a voluntary group of around 200 members entirely supported by membership subscriptions and donations who work to support D&BCIC and DalesBus by:

  • Helping to provide financial support for DalesBus by a variety of fund-raising activities and donations
  • Providing an all-year programme of guided walks and social events from DalesBus services in order to help promote the weekend bus and train network
  • Campaigning to ensure local and national Government bodies and agencies provide essential policy support and adequate financial resources to support well planned and marketed integrated public transport services to and within the Yorkshire Dales. This is to meet the needs of rural communities in the Dales, and also that of visitors, both young and old and from all backgrounds but especially people without access to their own transport. But we also promote DalesBus and as an attractive, affordable and environmentally sustainable alternative to the private car to and within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape.

We need your support. Please give us that support by joining Friends of DalesBus today.
